Breast Reconstruction

Reconstruction after breast cancer

Unfortunately, breast cancer is an increasingly common disease. Breast reconstruction means that patients who have suffered from breast cancer can regain their body image and symbol of femininity. Reconstruction can always be considered following complete or partial mastectomy. Where possible, the reconstruction is performed at the same time as the tumour is removed. Based on the chest examination, the reconstruction can be performed using local remodelling, using an implant or a fragment of muscle or cutaneous tissue from the patient themselves (flap). This surgery has evolved enormously and is one of the most rewarding types of surgery, both for the patient and the surgeon.
